Created in 2011, COMAP originally emerged with the launch of the Buddy Network program, now known as the Buddy Program, whose main mission was to connect international students with Portuguese students, promoting hospitality, integration, and the creation of intercultural bonds from the moment Erasmus students arrived at ISCAP.
Since then, COMAP has become a fundamental pillar in the academic life of international students who choose Porto as their mobility destination. Through a volunteer team composed of ISCAP students, it promotes a wide range of cultural, recreational, and informative activities, aiming to facilitate integration and build a truly international community on campus.
Our mission is to welcome, guide, and integrate international students, providing them with an enriching academic and social experience, marked by cultural exchange, the promotion of the Portuguese language, and the encouragement of sharing experiences.
The main objectives of COMAP include:
Providing logistical and emotional support to newly arrived international students;
Encouraging the active participation of Portuguese students in promoting local culture;
Organizing events that foster interaction among students of different nationalities;
Facilitating access to relevant information about academic life, how ISCAP functions, and living in the city of Porto;
Acting as a bridge between institutional services and mobility students.
COMAP is made up of a group of volunteer students, usually organized by specific roles, such as:
General coordination;
Event and activity coordination;
Buddy Program management;
Communication and social media;
Linguistic and intercultural support;
Website and digital content management.
Throughout the academic year, the team holds regular meetings to plan and evaluate activities, discuss improvements, and respond to the needs of the international student community.
The structure is informal yet efficient, fostering a collaborative environment where each member can contribute ideas and take on responsibilities according to their skills and availability.
COMAP is based at the ISCAP campus, with access to meeting rooms, computer equipment, and logistical support from the International Relations Office.
The management of communication channels—including social media, email, and the official website—is carried out by the team itself.
Digitally, COMAP maintains an active presence on social media and this Website.
